On Saturday, September 28th 2002, approximately seventy people attended the 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance, which was held at Livingston Elks Lodge #1855 in Livingston, NJ. We are happy to report that every branch of the family was represented (we all represent Uncle Tom Flaherty). The evening began with a cocktail hour, which featured a delicious assortment of hor d'ouevres provided by the members of the committee. For dinner there was plenty of good food, some catered and some cooked by various members of the committee; homemade Irish Soda Bread; liquid refreshments available were draft beer, wine, a variety of sodas, coffee and tea; desserts were plentiful and varied, thanks to donations from some of the guests and a sheet cake provided by the committee. The music was lively and the dance floor was put to good use. We were honored to have in attendance Jack & Margaret Flaherty, Pauline Flaherty, Mary Joan Flaherty and Tom McCarthy, Sr. Uncle Jack shared some of his thoughs and memories with us, and Aunt Pauline said a few words. The committee provided each paying member of the Association in attendance with a special momento of the evening - two 5 X 7 photos in a double frame. One photo is a black & white shot of the younger brothers and sisters and Grandma Flaherty; the second photo is a more recent color shop, taken at one of the reunions, of the brothers and sisters as most of us remember them. Thank you to all those who attended and to all those who helped in any way to make a special evening more special. We know that those of the family who are no longer with us would have been very proud. 50th Anniversary Committee | |||
